All scriptures and holy books of all religions must be continuously updated as human societies use their collective “God-given” abilities to know and understand all dimensions of the Universe and beyond. Same goes for all followers, who will otherwise find themselves increasingly out of sync with reality, leading to disharmony and fragmentations.
Here's a visual representation of what happens when religious holy books, scriptures, doctrines, etc. are not routinely updated as humans use their "God given" powers to access, use, deepen, and build diverse knowledge. This issue is not unique to Islam, but applies to most organized religions including Christianity. There is always a degree of implicit and explicit retrogression in various forms with organized religions.
In this light, critical author Sam Harris ("End of Faith") posits that people
might have landed on the Moon in 1569 instead of 400 years later were it not for
the Catholic church's longstanding powerful doctrinal conflict resistance to new
knowledge advancements throughout the Middle Ages.
In the US, there are "creation museum" theme parks presenting a number of science exhibits and activities that depict dinosaurs and men living together according to a literal interpretation of the Bible. Christianity is not off the hook for insisting on backwardness where there's a doctrinal conflict.
All religious documents, books, scriptures, doctrine, etc. must be continually updated as people use their "God given" abilities to learn about the universe and beyond.
