Just 50 miles south of Monterey Bay is the Esalen Institute on the Big Sur Coast.  "Esalen comprises 120 acres of land between the Pacific Ocean and abrupt mountains. A canyon stream cascades through Esalen while hot mineral springs gush from a seaside cliff to warm the stone seaside spa tubs.
